Portals To Something Bigger

I am going through all my archives right now, trying to remember parts of my being that may have been forgotten or may have gotten lost or may have become still or may have silenced themselves. It feels important to remember right now when everything and everyone is screaming for help, when state violences escalate on all our streets, when propaganda propagates a Great and Mighty Hate, when retreat and despair and defeat feel inevitable.

It also feels important to share, to make known who I am within this cosmos, because sharing reveals be-ing, which is just another name of past and future. We carry all these pieces of our selves with us even when forgotten. Remembering and sharing is a way to reexamine and recontextualize that which has already come before. We can literally rewrite our narratives even with the same facts and pasts. That is power.

The images in this collage were not made or taken with the idea of a portal in mind. Rather, in looking back upon my past work, I saw portals within these images. They are transporting me to realms beyond this singular being, connecting me to something bigger than self (even though it is a single self that snapped or manipulated these images.) They remind me both of my insignificance and my significance.

In the end, these images will fade from memory. The server this lives on will die. I will die. I have no plan (currently) for handing over this digital ephemera to unknown queer descendants. The death of this is inevitable.

And in this moment, amidst all of the chaos of this world on January 21, 2026, these images and this post make possible the futures I desire. One where We All are free, truly truly free, to express the fullness of our being without it being greeted with fear and shame and hate and violence.
