Get Political & Flog Denim Dan at Folsom Street Fair 2026
We did it y'all! Thanks to the generous support of the amazing Queerly Complex Community we had the Get Political & Flog Denim Dan booth at the Folsom Street Fair. Passersby were invited to grab a piece of lit, get a bit of political education, and then flog their not-so favorite mayor, Denim Dan. Joining me at the booth were a cadre of fagulous volunteers and three shift leads, who (thanks to generous contributors) got paid!
We handed out hundreds of flyers about Trans March's Demands, the November 2026 election, the Believe Brad campaign, Hot 2 Vote, and political coloring sheets from Sour Cherry Comics. We also barked into the crowd so passersby learned about the billionaire takeover of City Hall and how they could fight back. It was a cheeky bit of civic engagement with roots all the way back to Megahood, the street fair precursor to Folsom Street Fair that was pushing back against City Hall-based redevelopment in the 1980s.
This entire endeavor was a collective effort of deep community love in dedication to a San Francisco by and for San Franciscans. I am so proud of all the hands, bodies, beings, and beloveds that make radical art rooted in care possible. Thank you!
And check out some photos and videos below to get just a flavor of Folsom!
