Flash (noun): a sudden burst / a brief display / a short summary / a symbolic occurrence. (verb): To burst suddenly / to display for a brief moment / to give a short summary / to occur symbolically. (adjective): sudden / brief / short / symbolic.
I am obsessed with ideas & symbols. Something will just flash into my head, and I suddenly have to draw it as a simple line drawing. I’ll set it aside, and come back to it every so often. Often, this process reveals another flash of insight, a word, phrase, quote. Repeated enough these flashes create a glossary of concepts that include symbol, word, definition, and (a) guiding quote(s). This glossary can then be used to better communicate the complexity and depth of Queerly Complex creations.
Introspection: The act of contemplating / examining the origins / motivations / expressions of one’s beliefs / behaviors / ancestors / relations / cosmologies.
“Through study, I gained awareness and knew that other prisoners are not the cause of my pain. I began to see others with new eyes. My education made me more compassionate towards others.” Stevie Wilson, "Dis-organizing prisons and building together inside / outside,” Building Abolitionist Worlds
