About the event

Walking Kapwa is a walking tour through generations, cultures, solidarities, and the Cosmos in partnership with Tala Justo. Starting in the Chambers of the Heart exhibition and ending at 4th and Mission, Walking Kapwa invites us to notice what we usually pass by and to reflect on how place shapes belonging and possibility, all through the body.


Tala Justo (they / them) is a Fellow with the UC Berkeley College Corps co-creating with Queerly Complex and the Filipino Mental Health Initiative over Summer 2026, culminating in Walking Kapwa, a keystone project rooted in place. 


Along the tour, we will explore questions like,  “Who taught you how to dream?” and “What place made another version of yourself possible?” These questions cannot be fully answered from a desk. They emerge from streets, buildings, neighborhoods, and the memories attached to them.
