ABOUT

465 Collective is a queer, trans, non-binary, kinky, and sex worker community lounge and gallery located in the former home of Femina Potens, a landmark gallery dedicated to showcasing work by women and trans artists operated by Madison Young from 2002 to 2007. It opened as 465 Collective in June 2024 at 465 S. Van Ness, San Francisco / Yelamu, CA.  Current members are Beth Stephens, Devon Divine, Jason Wyman, Lydia Daniller, Maria Judice, Madison Young, and Tray Smith.

WHO WE SERVE

465 Collective centers the work of queer, trans, non-binary, kinky, and sex worker artists, filmmakers, and cultural producers with ties to the San Francisco Bay Area. All programs are produced or hosted by a Collective Member or Members and range from exhibitions, artist-in-residence, film screenings, workshops, organizing meetings, political education and civic engagement, performance activations, reading series, and more. 

Who attends our Collective Member programs are diverse and varied including (but not limited to) born-and-raised San Franciscans, people who recently arrived here, neighbors who live nearby, visitors from beyond the Bay, curious people looking for curious people, those who quite often don’t feel like they belong, and friends who desire comrades in the fight for liberation.

HOW WE OPERATE

465 Collective  is collectively managed using a cohort-based model made up of queer artists, filmmakers, and cultural producers. Together, they work to ensure the continued viability of the physical space, activate the lounge and gallery through free to low-cost community-run programming and exhibitions, and come to consensus on best practices for collective management, presenting art that pushes boundaries, and trans, queer, sex worker, and kinky community engagement at the intersections of race, disability, class, gender, and immigration.
