JASON WYMAN IS QUEERLY COMPLEX.

I am Jason Wyman (they / them).
I was born upon the Land of 10,000 Lakes, also called mní sóta home of the Očhéthi Šakówiŋ. I now lives, creates, and loves upon Yelamu, lands of the Ramaytush Ohlone people, renamed by colonizers Yerba Buena, then San Francisco. My name means, “Healer,” or so I've been told. What it means to me is, “Someone eternally and perpetually finding their way.”
I am an artist rooted in queer traditions of familial bonding with those not of one’s blood, of moving to cultivate belonging, of remixing identity and gender and sexuality to become and continue becoming. Some results of my art making have taken the forms of a 30+ feet by 3 feet double-sided participatory sticker mural across from San Francisco City Hall with artists Celi Tamayo-Lee and MC Amable; a creative praxis that cultivates and grows Power-With co-created with Crystal Mason; a durational performance transforming confessions of violence into seeds of change; a collective of Queer Artists co-creating space for radical films, performances, art, words, music, dances, and archives to be crafted and experienced; and site-specific poetry made through conversation with passersby on street corners and in museums and on stages and at street fairs. A throughline weaving all of my expressions and works together is my deep, evolving, co-creative relationships with beloveds (those in intimate proximities,) neighbors (those in physical, social, or virtual proximities,) comrades (those in political or spiritual proximities,) and more-than-human kin (those in cosmic, botanical, zoological, ancestral, archetypal proximities.)
My practice includes an annual reflection upon and reexamination of their place in the cosmos (aka cosmology or worldview,) which results in a refined understanding of purpose, dreams, and values. This cosmology becomes a map offering guideposts, possible destinations and obstacles, and inspiration for artistic journeys. The timing also corresponds to the journey I took from 10,000 Lakes to 48 Hills on December 31, 1997.
Over all of 2026, I will continue deepening and expanding my commitment to co-creating spaces, offerings, and happenings that gather, support, connect, and cultivate Trans, Queer, and Non-Binary artists, activists, organizers, comrades, and neighbors.

Queerly Complex values:
Embrace Ease & Flexibility
To remember, “Many hands make for light work,” and “Less is more;” to keep details simple so others can contribute towards a vision, an experience, a gathering; to be aware of resources and capacities and not overcommit.
Love All Relations
To tend to, show up for, share with, and care for Us-All’s neighbors, family (of blood and choice,) comrades, beloveds, others, ancestors and descendents, and more-than-human kin; to remember We All are relatives.
Embody Pleasure
To claim, honor, affirm, and celebrate the somatic and sensory delights experienced through flesh, being, and perception; to embrace sensuality and sexuality as a political, spiritual, and personal practice of being alive in this here and now.
Lead with Obscurity, Curiosity, & Inquiry
To sustain a sense of wonder, humility, and inquisitiveness about about All That Is-Was-Will-Be that sparks introspection, contemplation, and conversation; to remain open to the unknown and unknowable.
Commit to Change, Growth, & Transformation
To be moved by new information, relationships, and conditions; to stay willing to revise positions, practices, and self-understanding in response to what emerges; to resist becoming stuck.
Abolish Binaries
To recognize the dynamics, tensions, interplays, relationships between and amongst that which is micro, that which is macro, that which is meta, and that which is unknown; to embrace complexity and interdependence; to reject spectrums that flatten perspectives and choices to either-or, yes-no, 1-0.
Values articulate desired intentions. Their impact on others is experienced through personal / collective behaviors. Behaviors are filtered through cultural-personal understandings. This creates contradictions between-among intentions, impacts, behaviors, and understandings.
Queerly Complex seeks to bring intentions, impacts, behaviors, and understandings into closer proximity in an effort to reconcile contradictions. Queerly Complex does this through reexamining and rearticulating QC values annually. With each iteration, Queerly Complex more precisely names them, defines them, and identifies behaviors and goals that exemplify them. This aids Queerly Complex in sharing QC values with others so Queerly Complex can better understand how close or how far away it is to exemplifying its values. Queerly Complex commits to adjusting language, behaviors, actions, and course accordingly.
Queerly Complex dreams of a past, present future where:
-
Us-All’s material, physiological, ecological, social, emotional, creative, sexual, and spiritual needs are met through communal, mutual, and collective care, understanding, effort, and aid;
-
We-All are born free to feel all our feelings and to be who we imagine our beings to be with full agency and autonomy to change, grow, and transform without fear of ridicule, shame, reprisal, punishment, or expulsion;
-
Art (& Media & Storytelling & Pornography & Music & Technology & Science & Performance & Poetry & Cuisine & Games & Design & Crafts & Literature & All Forms of Expression) is merely how We All make meaning of our selves, of our relations, and of the Cosmic Mysteries, and thus We All Know No Bounds;
-
Us All’s Man-made systems of theft, extraction, control, exploitation, domination, and oppression (aka White Supremacy, colonialism, cisheteropatriarchy, eugenics, and caste) are fully uprooted, and their seeds can no longer take root.
