Queer Comfortwear
On May 19, 2022, San Francisco Police killed Michael MacFhionghain, 57, and Rafael Mendoza, 49, under the freeway not far from my home. The two unhoused men were fighting, and one was on top of the other trying to stab the one below him. About a dozen officers showed up and started yelling overlapping instructions. Within eleven minutes of arriving on the scene, four officers opened fire, killing both men.
During the Town Hall held by Police Chief Scott, he touted all of the crisis response training the officers received. What struck me at that moment was that these were trained police officers who killed my neighbors, which means “Police Training Kills.”
