ORIGINS was taken at Pigeon Point Lighthouse just up from Santa Cruz as part of an annual tradition my husband and I do every winter. Instead of celebrating Christmas with anyone else, we visit the ocean and spend time in the vastness of the sublime, pondering who we be as individuals, as a couple, and as earthlings. It's a way for us to (re)orient ourselves & remember how insignificant we are in the grand scheme of things.
These limited edition, silver gelatin prints weretaken on December 25, 2016 and installed at Mercury Cafe in San Francisco in February 2017. 22 photos total, they were hung in a single line all the way around the cafe.
These three photos are rearranged to disorient the horizon and my memory to create something skewed as a rememberance that what we think we know, we might not really know. They are a handful of prints that remain from the installation. They are available for sale through Ingleside Gallery in San Francisco as part of Inside / Outside, a group show of still life, portraits, & landscapes. Opens Wednesday, Aril 13, 2022. More events over the next two weeks. Follow Ingleside Gallery to stay up-to-date. They are a fabulous gallery on Ocean Avenue, which is the same neighborhood that gave me my first arts hosting gig for OMI International Family Festival.
