One commitment I am making in 2026 is to continue my practice of slowly studying others words and works. It's part of an annual tradition of reexamining who I want to be in the year ahead so that I can move in adaptive and responsive ways to what is emerging around me. It's not so much about setting goals or expectation or resolutions. Instead, it's about finding the guideposts that assure me that I am on a path of my own choosing (even when choices are sometimes hella restricted or limited.)
One way I want to deepen this practice is not only by reading it myself, but by reading aloud portions of the texts I am studying and sharing them with a broader community. Given the political, cultural, social, and economic moment that we are in, I think it is important to lay bare for the Queerly Complex Cosmos exactly where I stand.
That's why I am starting a new weekly series called Jason Reads. Each Monday, I read excerpts from texts that I am slowly studying in 2026. These tidbits offer insights into my thoughts, ideas, practices, actions, and creative forces flowing from past iterations of my being into future versions of my self. I will be posting them on Instagram, YouTube, and here on my blog. I think it is important to meet people where they are, so find me on any of those platforms. Leave a comment, and let's dig in together!
Today, I am reading excerpts from Revolution and Evolution in the 20th Century by James and Grace Lee Boggs. It is from the chapter "Rediscovering the American Past." The book was initially published in 1974. 50+ years later it (still) reveals why we are in this current moment.
Without any further ado, here is Jason Reads Revolution and Evolution in the 20th Century by James & Grace Lee Boggs.
