We know that the world is a mess right now.

Help us spread Queer Art, Community & Joy

QUEER ART SCHOOL is more than just a dream.

It is a beautiful experiment in creating an online community for queer artists. It is a space of belonging, connection, and transformation.

Our community is committed to dismantling oppressive systems, creating access for those who have been left out, and queering the definitions of art and artistic practice.

QUEER ART SCHOOL is a new model that seeks to radically expand the idea that art and art making can and should thrive outside of the confines of gatekeeping institutions and the capitalist drive to commodify all production.

HELP US RAISE $12,000

CURRENT AMOUNT RAISED (5/18/2023): $1500!

We are raising $12,000 by July 15, 2023, to help us run our first Queer Art School course, which starts July 22, 2023.

The $12,000 will go to (in order of prioritization):

  1. $5000 - TO PAY STIPENDS TO ATTENDEES who are Black, Indigenous, brown, immigrant, rural, trans, gender non-specific, disabled, displaced, poor, youth, or elder artists AND who would not otherwise be able to attend without financial support.
  2. $5000- TO PAY FOUNDING FELLOW STIPENDS to Crystal Mason, Tray Smith, Midori, blkcowrie, and Jason Wyman for facilitation of .
  3. $2000 - TO PAY FOR INCIDENTAL COSTS, including Zoom, materials and supplies, transription services, and additional Artist Stipdens as needed.

Queer Art School embraces the core tenets of the Solidarity Economy. Our budget prioritizes first paying low-income or poor artists for their involvement. Second, we will pay the Founding Fellows for their labor. Finally, we use additional funds to pay for incidental costs.

Queer Art School was developed by the volunteer efforts of Crystal Mason, Juan Carlos Escobedo, Jason Wyman, Trayvon Smith, Midori, and blkcowrie.
