Whew. It is already The Holicraze, my least favorite season during my favorite time of year.
This year is feeling especially tender. Every emotion sits close to the surface waiting to be called to attention. I can be joy-filled and laughing one moment and tearing up at a crappy movie the next.
Add on top of this the anxiety and stress of navigating often messy conversations with both family of blood and choice during the most commercialized season, and holicraze sums up this entire feeling / season / shit show quite nicely.
Luckily, I've been cultivating some tactics to process political rage, avoid reactionary trappings, and have a bit of fun along the way. I'll be sharing two zines, "Some Political Advice" & "This I Believe: ______", along with a new line of Queer Comfortwear inspired by my Political Clowns illustrations at my upcoming Open Studio on TUESDAY, November 22, 2022, from 3:30pm to 6:30pm PT. Drop on by for any portion of it, even if all you've got is 15 minutes or can't be on video.
PLUS!!!! I'll hold space for all of us to share how we can better navigate politics, queerness, and the holicraze. I'll transform what's shared into a new, "Some Collective Queer Advice for Surviving the Holicraze" zine.
